Jordan, Lois (Khryss' daughter from the Philippines) and I just came home from the Christian Clinic. It's been a long day and I wasn't sure that my body was going to make it. But I knew from past experience that Jesus was going to make it! We had a couple of new volunteers tonight. Fun to watch their eyes as we watch God work in our lives and the patients lives. So I went into a room after the prayer team had left it. As I was asking the new patient about her past history, she stopped me and asked "What's your religion?" I answered "I'm a vanilla Christian. I love Jesus." So she asked if I was non-denominational and I said yes. I asked her if she had ever accepted Christ. She said "no" because she couldn't believe that Jesus could forgive her of the sins of her youth. With her permission, I drew out the Grand Canyon illustration. I explained that Jesus said he would remove sin, that His was a permanent relationship with us once we accepted Him. Just then, there was a knock on the door. So I asked her to get undressed for her exam. When I left the room I asked the prayer team to begin to pray. After her exam, I took in the green booklet and we looked at the circles. She knew which circle she wanted to be in, so together we prayed to ask Jesus into her life and heart. She was so excited when we read the "facts"- the promises that are forever. I had to redirect the conversation to her blood pressure-she really didn't want to talk about her health concerns after accepting Christ! She will be back next week and we are arranging discipleship. Needless to say, we were jumping together in the prayer room! God is good.
Jordan's irregular heart beat continues. We are scheduled to go to Mayo on August 30. Seems like a long time as Jordan feels crappy on her medicine. She started High School classes today so I'm praying that God will use distractions to help her feel better. We got her new defibrillator (a biphasic) yesterday-she likes it because it is lime green. Thank you for your prayers.
In Christ,
Judy
